EU-WISH - International Workshop and Consortium Meeting

This workshop is part of the EU-WISH Joint Action, funded under the European Union's EU4Health Programme, focusing on advancing wastewater-based surveillance for public health.

Purpose and Objectives

The International Workshop will bring together key stakeholders, including representatives from international organizations, public health institutions, and research entities, to:

  • Prioritize surveillance targets, such as respiratory viruses, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and chemical substances, with a focus on geographical and technical aspects.
  • Explore ways to integrate wastewater-based surveillance data into public health frameworks, with insights from international and cross-sectoral perspectives.
  • Foster collaboration to address shared challenges in public health preparedness and response.

 

Key Agenda Highlights

The workshop will take place on-site over two days:

Tuesday 9th September: Prioritization

Moderated breakout sessions and high-level discussions to identify key surveillance targets and emerging priorities, as well as the role of wastewater-based surveillance in public health.

Wednesday 10th September: Integration into Public Health

Practical sessions and collaborative discussions on incorporating surveillance findings into public health strategies and policies.

 

Project General Assembly (Closed Session):

Thursday 11th September (Morning): EU-WISH General Assembly

Restricted to project members only.

 

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is particularly addressed to EU-WISH consortium members and invited external experts representing stakeholders at Member States and beyond who are interested in the prioritization of wastewater surveillance (WWS) actions, and their integration into public health and in the EU-WISH Joint Action in general.
